How do I order?

Click here to order. This will bring up an email with an order form. You can then send us an order specifying the items you would like. We will respond with confirmation of availability and the total price. We will also send you our Venmo QR or Zelle ID code in the same confirmation email. We accept cash and carry from our past customers.

How do I receive my honey order?

Sorry, we don't ship. Most often, we meet customers at one of the following locations (please select a location and specify when you order):

Jewel/Osco (corner of Randall and Prairie St Charles IL)
Wasco Post Office (corner of Old LaFox and Rt 64 St Charles IL)
Geneva Menards (Geneva, IL - Randall Road)
South Elgin Menards (South Elgin, IL -Randall Road)

Are your products organic?

While we are not certified organic, we follow organic practices and do not use synthetic pesticides or fertilizers.

Does your honey crystallize?

All pure honey will crystalize over time. To date, we've never had any crystalize that we are aware of, but sooner or later, it will happen. Our honey will crystalize over time because it's a natural process where glucose in the honey separates from water and forms crystals. It's not spoilage - actually it's a sign of purity and quality. The nectar the bees use to create the honey and storage temperature also affect crystallization. To turn the honey to liquid again, just place the jar in a warm water bath until the honey flows again. Crystallization is normal and will not affect the flavor of the honey. Never boil, microwave or refrigerate your pure fresh honey. Store at room temperature.

Why is my honey a different color

The color of honey depends upon where our bees are getting their nectar. Spring honey tends to be very light in color, slightly floral and sweet. The nectar source is generally from early blooms, and flowering fruit trees. Summer honey is a deeper color, reflecting the summer nectar source for our bees. Wherever you see blooms in summer, you are likely to see bees frantically collecting nectar for making honey. Summer honey tends to be less sweet than Spring honey and has more floral notes. Fall honey is the darkest, sometimes looking like light molasses. One of the primary sources of nectar for fall honey is goldenrod which is very abundant in our area in late summer and early fall. This honey has the deepest flavor and while still sweet, it's the least sweet of the batches. Many people prefer fall honey as it is less abundant.

How do I store my honey?

Do not refrigerate. Honey does not spoil. Just keep the honey on a shelf (out of the sun) and it's ready to use right out of the jar.

Do your hives survive winters?

At the end of every season, we work to make sure each hive has sufficient resources and protection to survive the winter. We do everything we can to help ensure they survive. Despite this, the life of the hive is very dependent upon things we cannot control such as the weather.

What do you do if a hive dies in the middle of winter?

Sadly, hives do die out. If this happens, we inspect the hive to ensure we understand why this happened so we can improve our apiary and our survival rate. In spring of 2025, our survival rate was 80%. This is quite high and we believe this is due to our focus on proper hive management.

Do you ever get stung?

We try to avoid getting stung, but if you own bees, you will get stung. Bees have a disposition that changes like the weather. Some days they are very gentle and other days they are the opposite. Yes, we do get stung. Just don't get them in your hair (we have stories).
